Maria Uggla is a visionary designer with decades of experience in the field of CMF (Colour, Materials, and Finish). She began her career at Volvo, where she held various leadership roles related to C&M design. Since February 2022, Maria has been Head of CMF Design at Polestar. She is responsible for creating a new C&M expression for the brand and working with her team to develop materials, grains, and colours that align with the Polestar’s identity.

Maria has a strong focus on sustainability in her design and is a key driver of the company's sustainability efforts, which focus on climate, circularity, and transparency. She is known for her ability to drive change and make a positive impact in the field of material design. Maria is a visionary thinker and dedicated professional, always seeking to push boundaries and create innovative solutions.  

The Polestar Precept, which won the Eyes on Design award for Innovative Use of Colour, Graphics, or Materials in 2021, showcases the innovative sustainable material solutions introduced by Maria and her team. Emphasising Polestar's commitment to shaping the innovation of sustainable materials.

Building on this foundation, Maria and her team, in collaboration with The Swedish School of Textiles, have developed new, innovative textiles, including the tailored knit upholstery for the Polestar 4.
